THE DAY HAS COME!!

Today, begining from the morning we were in the streets. And thanks to the amazing Danish weather, it rained! So we went to the studenthouse which was a good idea because it was full of students and they all cared about innovation. Our next stop was the central library and people in there were more serious but we still managed to talk to some people and did a couple of different activities. We had questionaires, completing drawings and of course the marsmallow challenge. And this time we ate rest of the marsmallows :D After our activity we headed back to the college and talkeed about our day and did some evaluations about our module. And also we listened to a really facinating presentation about a youth football project which was an example of social innovation.

Now that we introduced innovation to schools and students, it's time to spread it even further. So, Nicolai decided to divide us into different groups each of which will work with a different environment. We are the street group so we have to go to streets and talk to people about innovation.I'm a bit nervous about it but I'm also sure that it will be a lot of fun because I have the best team in the world! :) Oh and one more thing, we tried to do the marsmallow challenge and it didn't work well. I guess I; can only challenge marsmallows when I eat them! :D

This week we were in action! We went to the school and worked with dtudents about innovation. And I can't tell how amazing was it. They were so eager even though it was something that they didn't even heard of before. And although there was no teacher during the work they were this focused and silent. So it worked really well and we had the first drawing of our dream corridor with my group :)

Now that we learned what is innovation it's time to make students understand how it works. So, this time we'll be doing the same project that we did with our students. However, they're not as lucky as we are because, they have to finish the project in a couple ours. This week we need to make a detailed plan of our project and decide which steps to follow. unfortunatelly, both of my teammates were in teaching practice this week so it didn 't work that well for us! We'll meet up and make our plan this week. But here are some thing that I tried to do on my own during the lesson :)

Presentation week

this week we're finally ready to present our ideas to students in our observation school.
Our project was mostly liked by the students and they agreed with our observations.Their only concern was that the project would be too costy but we end up finding alternative ways to reduce the budget so maybe some parts of our design can be easily applied to school and it can be really practical.

After spending a couple of weeks and branstorming we finally had an idea about what to do for our project. So, we started to do a prototype and make it ready to present in the school. We did something really simple but it is enough for students to understand our idea. With our innovation we aimed to make a difference internal design which will help students in various ways. Here are some looks from the prototype.

Brainstorming for innovative projects

To get a different perspective Lillian asked us to think with perspectives of different figures and brands who inspires people in all around the world. Some of them are President Obama, Nİke, Urban Outfitter, Jamie Oliver and Cristiano Ronaldo...While thinking about them we were asked to be as crazy as we can and to have no boundries. At some point to expand our imagination we even took a little walk to the moon :) Well actually to garden but we were supposed to think as we were going on a trip to outer space which I think was really helpful.

And the last picture is our stadium shaped desk which is inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo :)

this week on innovation lab!!

Well, as the weeks pass our class started to make me understand the concept of innovation more and more. Addition to innovation and it's benefits we also learned some things about the importance of creative thinking and motivation on children with the help of an amaing TED talk:)

 Article Name:Design Activism

Writer:Tim Brown

The article that we read about design activism is actually strongly atteched to our last lessen's topic. What is innovation? Though it doesn't give an exact definition it still tells about the existence of innovation and some fields of daily life in which we use innovations. Last week we sought some answers to the question of " what do we use for?".However, most of us (or it was just me) didn't think of the answer "needs".In this article writer thinks in different parts of the world different kinds of innovations occure and also most of these innovations are in different fields. The reason for this difference is simply people's needs because every person or every country has it's own needs. And according to the article innovations generally stem from these needs.

Article name:Globalization

Writer:Anthony Giddens

Our next article is about one of the most important and big issues of today's world:Globalization. Maybe we don't realize it's effects directly but  everything that we do is actually global. As the writer tells in the article no matter where you live the whole world knows what is going on around you or in your country and this is what actually globalization means to me.Moreover, one of  the points that the writer talks about in the article is how the boundries of countries' started to dissapear and I totally agree with it. Because of the changing and globalizing conditions of the world it gets harder to think millions of people as one.on the other hand it is quit wiser to think every person individually. These points are the basics of the article and I can't say anything more but that I completely agree with auther's ideas.

What is innovation??

  •   Innovation is a term which is used to describe new things that we try. We try them with the aim of being more efficent, more interesting and more successful. When we are talking about innovations in education, I think our main point should be permanent learning which can also be defined as successful learning. So to describe innovation with a few words, I can say that innovations are the forms or concepts.. which we use to improve things.

So, to make our life easier and more happy my partner Lara and I came up with some really innovative ideas in our innovation lab class:)

Lara thought that she can bring my best friend to me with the magic stick that she innovated and I also thought that I can make Lara's mom happier with the innovative airplane that I created to celebrate Christmas :) Though, neither of our ideas didn't work out this time they were still good practises for innovative thinking and they helped us to understand the notion of innovation.
